As a lot of you know, my book, The Unbreakable Cord, is at the printer and is soon to be released. Here’s a sneak peak of the cover. You may first think the book is about trees or nature. If you know the subject of my book, you may wonder why the cover doesn’t have a photo of the wrecked car or a horrific photo of my injured daughter (those are all included in the book).
Here’s the story behind the cover and the title. My granddaughter photographed an old tree stump surrounded by blades of brown grass Among the aged and decaying a single leaf, displaying the shades of a turning season, caught her eye. She carefully placed the leaf on the dead stump, zoomed in and took the photo.
Her finished project spoke to my heart, it was much more than a tree stump and a dead leaf. The leaf reminded me of a life that was once full of energy and color. It wasn’t until it fell from the tree that it caught eye of my granddaughter.
It has taken me nearly fifteen years to finish my book and I have had many working titles. An aged tree stump and the single leaf represents the messages of The Unbreakable Cord—you get knocked down, pain cuts deep, life ages you. The solution of surviving is trust in a single person, Jesus Christ, The Unbreakable Cord. Jesus is our lifeline, and without Him we are only a decaying leaf, but when the hand of God picks us up we are a work of art.
